TROOPS OVERVIEW

The High Knights

The High Knights of the order of Argus are it's founding members, who came together with determination and resources to bring the Order into being.  Destined by the gods, these three holy warriors were brought together, each unknowingly bearing one of the three Holy Swords of Power from the Age of Shadows, foreshadowing their need in coming years.  Each High Knight fields an army of :

25 Knights; 75 Heavy Calvary; under a Knight Commander.

Lord Knights

Lord Knights are individual Lords who field their own collection of troops for the Order of Argus and pay their portion of tithes to the Order.  They are the backbone of the command structure as they provide much in the way of resources and Troops, and they are leaders who can command troops efficiently.  There are currently four Lord Knights, but the Order is constantly looking for more.

Each Lord Knight fields a number of troops and special units detailed under each specific Lord Knight. The troops plus coffer money is an equal amount of gold as the High Knights contribute. There are several established Lord Knight Options in the Order of Argus:

Knight Commanders

Knight Commanders in the Order of Argus are senior Knights who can take over command of certain units and in fact their whole forces should their High Knight be away or incapacitated in some manner.  There is one Knight Commander for each High and Lord Knight.

Banneret Knights

Banneret Knights are Knight Errants or First Knights that, while not fielding an army and financial commitments as a Lord Knight, they bring with them their own troops and cover the costs of their own men and equipment. I think that's how it works - DON?

First Knights

First Knights are those Knight Errants who have made a name for themselves accumulating some fame and fortune in their own rights. They have not chosen to become Banneret Knights, but remain as integral proficient Hero Knights within the Order. They are the epitome of the chivalric cavalier such as Galahad or other Knights of the Round Table. They are not paid by the Order and they cover their own costs in every way.

Knight Errants

Knight Errants in the Order of Argus represent valiant Knights who aspire to be heroes in their own rights, like the Knights of King Arthur's round table, they set off on their own to pursue heroic deeds and to make a name for themselves wherever they go.  They hope when they return not only to have amazing stories to share with their brothers, but to be able to come back and financially contribute to the order - perhaps fielding their own troops for the cause.

Order Knights

Order Knights are the backbone of the Order and their ranks are filled from the very best of the Order troops. Most Heavy Calvary aspire to become full Knights of the Order of Argus. DON - Add more flavor text here.

ARGUS KNIGHTS

The school draws students from all over the realms to its campus in Suzail.  There is no tuition, so placement is granted based on merit alone.  Preference is given to Good (preferably LG) students with exceptional physical potential.  The facilities were generously provided by the Cormaeril family, and every effort is being made to ensure the school is ready to open (for the initial intake only) in the fall.  Teachers and trainers are provided by the three supporting churches.

Each year a new group of 150+ Candidates (200 on initial intake) are added depending on available seats and quality of prospects.  After a full year of training, the expectation is that (an estimated) half would advance in their studies, a quarter would be gracefully dismissed and a quarter would repeat their initial training (being given the extra year to mature).

The roughly 100 Cadets are trained extensively in overall fitness, riding, reading and religion. Of these, 60-65 are expected to proceed to the status of Page, with a few being asked to continue on as cadets for one more year.

Following their promotion they are now able to accompany to the Order on the summer campaign, serving as Pages to the Knights of the Order Argus.  Depending on whether their path is already clear some may opt to assist the Order priests instead.

Throughout their 2 years of training as a Page it should begin to become clear where their futures lie.  Whether as a Paladin, Specialty Priest, Priest or Warrior, their training will start to focus on the more specific skillsets of their vocation.  Once again all pages will participate in the summer campaign; from those roughly 40 will be chosen to begin their next year as Squires.

They will remain squires until they are prepared to graduate, but it is unlikely that their training will extend beyond two years as a Squire.  So the fastest that the Academy could graduate a student is five years and the slowest is eight years, but average is a little over six years.

THE ACADEMY OF ARGUS

There are three main areas of power for the Order of Argus around the Northern Inner Sea, forming a rough geographic triangle.

Tyrsholme

Tyrsholme is the castle-cathedral of Drake Shadowbourne, High Knight of the Order of Argus, Paladin of Tyr, wielder of the Holy Sword Chrysomer, Purple Dragon Knight of Cormyr and Lord of Tyrsholme. Located on a small island in the Immerflow River in North-Eastern Cormyr. Drake and his troops are loyal to the crown of the Kingdom and serve as a border fortification on the edges of the dark Hullack Forest, and the dangerous east road to the towering Thunder Peaks and the Dales beyond (Marking the border of the kingdom's rule). All of the Knights and Purple Dragons under Drake's command field out of Tyrsholme.

Haven

On the western end of the Dragon Coast, the bustling town of Haven is the main power base of the High Knight Killian Erikol, Paladin of Torm, Wielder of the Holy Blade Dag Lar, Lord of Haven and for his contingent of Order troops and Knights. Haven maintains a fairly large garrison of regular troops throughout the year, even when the Order is on campaign. Killian is dedicated to protecting the land around Haven and mantains a stabalizing influence in the region. Haven has proven to be a dependable port for sea traffic heading to the Western Heartlands and beyond.

Lord Knight Brogan Cairne and his troops are also stationed at Haven.

Greystone Keep

Greystone Keep is the base of operations for High Knight Galagus Galtrium, Paladin of Helm, wielder of the Holy Sword Gildeam, and Lord of Greystone. Greystone keep is situated near enough the center of the Vast to help safeguard it's highways and close enough to the Eastern Wilderlands that his large contingent of troops is always kept busy defending the land from evil. While not on campaign, he keeps his contingent of Order Troops here but also has a large standing army of 500 experienced troops who constantly serve Helm by patrolling and Safeguarding the entire region.
