PEOPLE AND PLACES

Barovians

The Barovians are a completely dominated people.  As their ruler, Strahd has them completely subjugated, and miserable.  Their lives appear to be in ruin and he clearly cares very little for them but he will not allow them to leave.  Perhaps they are the rough equivalent of cattle, or perhaps, as Dragovitch noted, they are paying for sins of their ancestors.

Vistani

The Vistani are completely opposite of the Barovians.  Despite their circumstance they still seem jovial and free.  Perhaps it is because they are still free.  They serve Strahd, but perhaps they are allowed a certain leeway that keeps them from being in the same state as the Barovians.  Maybe they are hanging on to some degree of life because the Barovians  are an example of how low they could sink.

Mary, Mother of Gerturda

Feels Strahd has her daughter, but this is far from certain.  This is clearly a mother who clings to her daughter, and in this dire environment, it is not a flawed mentality, but I assume that it would make for a child who wants to spread her wings.  Perhaps she just wanted to escape?  Will have to keep our eyes open on the Vistani camps as well, where there is some life.

Ismark

Ismark is an unusual Barovian in that he readily accepted our help without suspicion.  He also was very useful in the battle against the zombies.  Almost a little too careless.  Will need to watch that.

Ireena

Desired by Strahd, and almost claimed by him, but she has only been bitten twice.  One more and she will be his slave.  Taken, but only by force.  Is this why he is reluctant to just come get her?

Donavich

The Priest of Barovia at the church of the morning lord.  Different names, but the same patron.  Hopefully the reverence of this diety, and travelling with one of their faith will allow us to gain some trust with these people.

Doru

Vampire infected son of Dragovitch.  He was pulled into the assault on the Ravenloft attack by the wizard in black.

Old Pastry Lady

Not to be trusted according to Ireena.

Eva Of the Tser Pool Vistani

A seer of remarkable ability?  Perhaps.  She knew our names and she knew our backgrounds.  Immediately my mind went to Silvo though.  Perhaps she simply knows him.  In any case, she has directed us to multiple locations and this is allegedly to assist us with our quest.  Is this true sight or is this merely manipulation?  Is she part of the game?

Barov

Father of Strahd.  Barovia is named for him.

Ravina

Mother of Strahd.  Ravenloft is named for her.

Strahd

The Devil.  I do not see his motivations.  He sees himself as a deity here, and has the populace sufficiently terrified that he can pretty much do as he wishes.  They see him as all powerful, and every creature is in league with him aside from, perhaps, the Ravens.  But with that in mind, he still has weaknesses.  He is trying to capture Ireena for whatever ends, and yet he does not have her.  I think we can find out more of his motivations if we can learn of his part, but this will entail looking back over 400 years.

Isaac Strasni

The Valaki Captain of the guard.  We were told that he is a cruel man and is not to be trusted.

Baron Vargus Valakovic

Burgomeister of Valaki.  Pompous, but he did provide permission for Uphir to be brought into the city on the word of Ireena.

Baroness

Nothing of note yet

Yeska

Young boy being brought up in the Church of the morning lord.  Knows about the bones

Milivoj

Was told about the bones.  I believe he has something to do with their disappearance, but pride is keeping him from doing what is right.  He is under tremendous strain to care for his six siblings, so I do not think that he should be punished any further than he already has been at the loss of his parents.

Father Lucien

Secretive about the loss of the bones.  He fears for the panic of his flock, but I believe that it would be better to be honest with them.  I will respect his desires.
