NIM'S ECOLOGY OF EVIL

NURSEMAID

EVIL: Likely a victim of evil. At least an abomination though.

SPEED: Average

DARKSIGHT: ?

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES: Intangible. Life draining

RESISTANCE: Physical Weapons?

IMMUNITY: Physical Weapons?

WEAKNESS: Radiant Damage

NOTES:

This creature seemed determined to attack every living thing and without any attempt at communication.  It moved through walls and sucked life from those it attacked.  Our weapons seemed ineffective and passed through it.

It seemed to be a spirit tormented by its past life.

ANIMATED ARMOR

EVIL: Probably just a construct

SPEED: Average

DARKSIGHT: ?

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES: None.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS: When inert, they can be unarmed

NOTES:

These armor creatures seemed to be animated objects that activated when triggered.  We were able to disarm them when they were inanimate.  They struck hard with physical attacks, but were destroyed with physically attacked in return.

It remains to be seen if they will reanimate.

LOST WOLVES

EVIL: Perhaps just a predator.

SPEED: Fast

DARKSIGHT: Almost certainly

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES: They had some kind of regeneration ability.  Unsure if it was due to the nature of our attacks or if it was some kind of persistent thing like that of the troll.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES:

These hounds set upon us in the night and attacked viciously.  Although unpleasant to look upon, they seem like regular creatures in that they attack and can be damaged normally.

GHOST DOG (HELL HOUND?)

EVIL: Possibly, or possibly controlled/controllable by evil masters

SPEED: Fast-  Barely able to outrun via horses

DARKSIGHT: Extremely likely.  Hunted us without light source

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES: These beasts engaged in pursuit predation and appear to have herded us in a specific duration over the course of a night.  They were perhaps controlled by the Skeleton riders and perhaps they were not.

CENTIPEDE SWARM

EVIL: No.

SPEED: Fast

DARKSIGHT: Probably. Dark inhabitant and fled from light in lesser numbers.

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Swarming.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES: These insects only attacked in massive numbers.  I suspect we hit some kind of nest or something.

GHOULS LVL 1

EVIL: Definitely. Abominations.

SPEED: Fast and Stealthy

DARKSIGHT: Extremely likely.

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Does not appear to need air.  Able to remain immobile and silent until prey is upon them.  Also poisonous.

RESISTANCE: None noted.

IMMUNITY: None noted.

WEAKNESS: None noted. Possibly radiant damage?

NOTES: They laid in wait underground, in the dark, and completely silently until ambushing and attacking in unison.  Horrible combination of patience, teamwork and stealth.  Primary attack, biting and claws.

CEILING EEL

EVIL: Probably not. Just hungry

SPEED: Normal, but can escape to inaccessible places quickly

DARKSIGHT: None noted

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Very good at trapping  and holding limbs

RESISTANCE: None noted.

IMMUNITY: None noted.

WEAKNESS: None noted.

NOTES: A sure lesson to make sure your allies are aware before poking a dangling object.  This creature looked nothing more than a vine or branch hanging from the ceiling, but once prodded, it attacked and sucked appendages into its fang lined maw.  Grappling it was effective as it prevented it from withdrawing into its burrow.

SHADE

EVIL: I'm going to say yes.

SPEED: Normal

DARKSIGHT: Certainly

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Appeared out of nowhere

RESISTANCE: None noted. Perhaps normal weapons?

IMMUNITY: None noted.

WEAKNESS: Effectively turned.

NOTES: The forté of these creatures was their ability to hide inside the corpses of the dead, or at least they appeared to.  They seemed to come out of the very skeletons lining the walls, and were thus able to surround us.  Fortunately they were able to be turned, and we managed to split their forces.  They were far from harmless, but this fight went well after that.

DOOR

EVIL: Doubtful. Probably just hungry.

SPEED: Seemed to be immobile

DARKSIGHT: Unknown

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Perfect camouflage, or at least I noted nothing even from close up.  Also effective corrosion of said weapons and the fighting environment.

RESISTANCE: Physical weapons could get trapped in it.

IMMUNITY: Unknown.

WEAKNESS: None noted.

NOTES: Reinforcement of the lesson to trust nothing in the fight against evil.  This door was out of place in a dungeon mostly devoid of doors.  This should have been a sign to be extra careful.

GHOUL LVL 2 (The Dursts)

EVIL: Definitely. Abominations.

SPEED: Fast and Stealthy

DARKSIGHT: Extremely Likely

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Does not appear to need air.  Able to remain immobile and silent until prey is upon them.  Also able to poison the air, which is a step up from previous similar enemies.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY: Unknown.

WEAKNESS: None noted.

NOTES: The abhorrent Dursts managed to acquire their just reward for their years of evil and negligence.  Slightly tougher than the previously encountered biters, but equally sneaky, again managing to hide encased in the walls for who knows how long before springing their simultaneous trap.  We all too generously released them from their fate.

LORGOTH the DECAYER

EVIL: Most Definitely.

SPEED: Normal

DARKSIGHT: Unknown

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Area of effect and difficult to resist or avoid life draining cold, Fear.

RESISTANCE:Unknown.

IMMUNITY: Unknown.

WEAKNESS: Radiant Damage?

NOTES: Lorgoth was fully expected and we were readied for his appearance (Or at least an appearance of SOME kind of beast) but his overwhelming wave attacks were a surprise.  We did not ready enough, but fortunately we again had the power play of radiant damage to save us.  Better preparation and strategy needed the next time we ready for such a foe!

ULTRA ZOMBIE

EVIL: Mindless

SPEED: Slow

DARKSIGHT: Did not seem so.  Stopped when we were out of sight

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  Resilient, Poison Bite, Multiple attacks per round (Claw, claw, bite), removed limbs still try to attack.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS: Tough to destroy but can be slowed by limb removal

NOTES: These are not your standard zombie by any means.  They withstood an enormous amount of damage before finally being dispatched, at least in comparison with their more basic counterpart.  They seem relentless, but are easily confused and single minded.  They could probably be tricked into self harm via fire, or perhaps pits.

R.O.U.S.es

EVIL: Not likely

SPEED: Normal

DARKSIGHT: Unknown

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:  NA

RESISTANCE: NA

IMMUNITY: NA

WEAKNESS: NA

NOTES: These beasts didn't appear to be anything more than standard rodents, aside from their unusual size.  Oh, they also may be poisonous.  At the very least they taste terrible.

WOLVES

EVIL:

SPEED:

DARKSIGHT:

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES: Wolves are supposed to be the servants of the Devil here in Barovia.  We will need to be vigilant

BATS

EVIL:

SPEED:

DARKSIGHT:

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES: Bats are the spies of the devil in Barovia.  We must note how they operate in this realm.

RAVENS

EVIL:

SPEED:

DARKSIGHT:

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES: Ravens are noted to be a force for good in Barovia.  We must never harm them or allow them to be harmed.

LOST CHILDREN

EVIL:  Controlled by Evil. Abominations.

SPEED: Normal. Flying Bat Mounts.

DARKSIGHT:  Unknown. Likely.

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:Ranged attacks.  Damage is minor but can quickly compound with their numbers and under the effects of the singing bats.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES:

SINGING BATS

EVIL:  Controlled Beasts

SPEED:  Flight. Fast.

DARKSIGHT:  Very Likely.

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES:These beasts seem to be able to create some kind of follow compulsion in listeners.  This compulsion seems to persist through danger to the listener.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:I've hit a single target with a couple crossbow bolts and they were able to withstand the damage.

NOTES:

These Special bats are the mounts of the Lost Children.  We have had some success fending off their attacks by making a wax/cotton compound that we inserted into our ears.

Bats are the spies of the devil in Barovia.  We must note how they operate in this realm.

RESISTANCE:

IMMUNITY:

WEAKNESS:

NOTES:

These evil and cowardly creatures threw many minions at us before finally facing us. it was a devastating attack where they showed us just how weak we are in ranged fights.  We broke the coven, but did not manage to finish them off.  We are hoping we can find them in the remaining two before they regroup.  We supposedly have a full phase of the moon.

ETTERCAP

EVIL: Yes

SPEED: Fast, and mobile through their webs

DARKSIGHT: Yes

EXTRAORDINARY ATTACKS/FEATURES: Camouflage

RESISTANCE: None noted.

IMMUNITY: None noted.

NOTES: These beasts appeared to be a part of the wall.  The only reason we knew they were there was Snelb's insight to the cellar environment.  My keen eyes did not see them even when told of their existance.  They attempted to engulf their prey.
