Kythorn 18 - 19, 1491 DR
After defeating the ash zombies, their discussion around the statue in the courtyard was interrupted by an ominous voice coming from the tower area. It was the dragon. The dragon implied that it could destroy them, but it would rather parley with them. It seems it might have a task for them to perform. The dragon invited them in to discuss it, but in the end the PC's decided they would put that off for now.
They retreated to an unoccupied structure to the south to make their plans. They need not even have to deal with the dragon if they didn't want to - Reidoth had already given them detailed instructions on how to get to Cragmaw Castle. And should they be able to rescue their good friend Gundren, he will know how to find Wave Echo Cavern. Ultimately they decided that they might come back later and try the dragon.
Farooq went to the building where they encountered the humans who were hoping to meet with the Dragon. Farooq was determined to put an end to or run off these men because they were evil, as they were hoping to associate with an evil dragon. Farooq struck down their leader and another member of their group. Nash tried to deescalate the conflict and tried to overcome them with non-lethal combat. Most of the group were somewhat shocked and chose not to become involved with the conflict inside. With the help of Finder and Nash the rest of them were driven off. They chose to head out that day and follow the forest back to the Cragmaw hideout and follow the directions from there to get to Cragmaw Castle.
The first night was uneventful.
The second day, Kythorn 19, was a stormy, rainy day with lightning in the afternoon. 14-19 c. 4.8 mm Rain. Dark Storm Clouds. Downpour. Lightning. Strong Northern Breeze 25–31 mph. The group were ambushed by a large band of 9 Harpies in the late afternoon. The Harpies used their enchanting song to lure party members into their trees. It was a tough fight, but in the end all but two of the creatures were destroyed, and the remaining fled. Some treasure was gained from their nests high in the trees. The rest of the day was uneventful.
