Kythorn 27 - 28, 1491
Thinking quickly, Keeper pulled out two healing potions, dropping one beside Nash and rushing down the stairs to her brother, giving him the other potion. She immediately rushed through the door into the unexplored barracks towards Gundren. Nash jumped down the stairs and slid into position beside the fallen Farooq and poured the healing potion into him, squaring off against the bugbear to allow Farooq time to get up. Ara tried to web the dark archer at the top of the stairs but missed.
Soon the PCs were battling to get into the barracks, having to heal Farooq again as he was cut down getting into the room. Ara and Gundren ended up battling an enemy giant spider who was blocking the way ahead. It was defeated, but Ara was brought down. Gundren fed his last healing potion to Ara and soon everyone was breaking across the great hall with bugbears in pursuit. Their goal was to make it to the fortified room they had rested in before.
The PC's made it to their rest area and barricaded themselves in. It did not seem like the enemy had followed them. After a short rest, it was decided that to take a long rest, it would best to be outside of the caves. They carefully made their way out and found a suitable campsite about half a mile away from the entrance. They made camp and managed to get a restless night's sleep.
Who knows what their opponents have been up to in the hours since they left the caves, but the PCs returned much more wary than they were before. They encountered no resistance as they made their way into the entrance, down into the rift and east into the area where they had fought the stirges the day before. The decided to quickly check out the areas they had left unexplored yesterday.
They soon found an old Assayer's Office, with an old stone counter and a series of cubby's in the north wall containing old rotted parchment documents pertaining to accounting matters, written in dwarven runes. Behind the counter was an iron lockbox containing some treasure!
They also came across another room that contained the ancient skeletons of fallen Orcs and Dwarves. Soon after they entered the room the skeletons came to unnatural life and began attacking them. It was a bloody battle against nearly a dozen skeletons, but they were ultimately defeated by the PCs.
Travelling east out of the Stirge chamber they came to a natural cavern filled with all sorts of strange looking fungi, some glowing bright enough to illuminate the entire cavern. No one could specifically identify the mushrooms and other fungi, but there was some concern that the way forward would not be safe.
