Much has happened.
The mismatched pirate-adventurers battled through the kelp and came upon a giant crab who was constantly vomiting black ichor into the water that fed into the river. The ferocious battle proved very difficult as most of the group suffered from a strange magical confusion which kept them out of the fight for an extended duration. Eventually this great creature was defeated, and the creature's brains were extracted and they hollowed out the body of the crab so that they could use just the shell as their new crab boat.
They sailed back to Una who gave them another quest to gather ingredients for her spell to remove the curse. They were to follow a branch of the river to its headway and defeat the strange creature there that was befouling the river. On the way there they were attacked by a wyvern like creature with a snake-headed tail. Delgato leapt to jump atop it and attack, but instead ended up being picked up in its claws and brought high into the air. This creature was defeated by a mighty strike from Delgato which sent both of them tumbling to the earth with a heavy impact. Delgato was healed and then climbed the cliff to see what treasure might be in the creatures nest. (He fell on the way down. Not his day for heights.)
Soon they met a group of lizardmen who were suffering greatly by the green algae that was clogging up the river and their fishing opportunities. A great, many tentacled, creature lived there and killed all who came too close.
The PCs followed a guide who brought them to the spot where the river was clogged with green algae and as they approached, they were attacked by fibrous tentacles of some great plant creature. These tentacles were coated with writhing leeches which would attach to any creature assaulted by the tentacles. This fight proved difficult as the vines did considerable damage and grappled those it hit. The PC barely managed to defeat this creature when finally Nog, on his last leg, dove down under the water to assault the root of this creature. This battle could not have been won without Griznak and his lightning bolts. He rather impressed the indigenous lizardfolk with his powers.
When it was finally defeated, they gathered up as many leeches as they could and returned to Una with their prize. Una took their gift and added it next to the other and told them that they had one more job to do to gather ingredients. They must go and defeat the crocodile god worshipped by the lizardmen of the swamp and bring back its mighty heart.
The group were getting rightly frustrated with all of these quests they were being sent on and many were dubious of Una's intentions. Delgato was convinced that if they could do this last mission, that the swamp witch could cure their curse. He did not relish the idea of going back and having to deal with Blackbeard and his cohorts. So they set off once again, this time to kill a god worshipped by a whole community of lizardfolk, right under their noses.
Sneaking overland using Pass without Trace they crept up to the lizardfolk village and saw that it was as bad as they thought. About 100 crocodiles swarmed about the area and upon a muddy riverbank lay the largest crocodile they had ever seen - right in the middle of the village. How were they going to kill the crocodile and remove its heart without having to fight through 100 crocodiles and at least as many lizardmen?
They hatched a plan - They would use Griznak's call lightning spell to blast down upon the village and especially the crocodile god, doing so to hopefully usher the creature in their direction as Nog and Delgato would be waiting downstream to attack the crocodile as it fled. Hopefully the lizardfolk would be so confused that they would not enter the fray until the deed was done.
For once, a plan actually went about as good as it could go. They did manage to send the crocodile god and dozens of crocodiles downriver from the village where Nog and Delgato could intercept them. Nog ran right across the water and attacked the giant croc while Delgato at first fired his shadow blasts at the beast. Soon they were battling many crocodiles as well as the ferocious "god". Nog wrestled with the thing and Delgato leapt upon its back to battle it.
Soon it was defeated, but several crocodiles remained and the lizardfolk were beginning to move in their direction. Delgato drew the short straw and while Griznak cast more lightning down upon the crocodiles and Nog hammered them to ruin, Delgato had to carve into the dead beast and crawl inside of it to carve out its heart!
The Lizardfolk arrived and were fearful to enter the radius of the storm clouds of Griznak's lightning spell. They saw their dead god and decided that they could not fight the PCs and let them leave with their prize and once again they PCs were poling down the river to Una's hut. Expecting their quests to finally be over, Nog entered the small hut and presented Una with the creatures heart. Una screamed "What is it going to take to kill you fools!!! Kill them!!" and soon the hut sprung to life and attacked - The fireplace became attacking rock creatures and the roof sprung acidic tentacles and began to attack. Nog managed to hit the old hag with mighty blows and she turned invisible and fled.
The rock creatures seemed almost impervious to physical attacks and the black tentacles of the hut hit with massive acid attacks! Delgato immediately climbed up to the roof when the battle began which proved to be a bad decision as he was the first to taste the acid of the tentacles and quickly jumped down to the ground again. The rock creatures hit with mighty hammer blows and Nog was being wounded severely.
The best tactic was to try and get away from the tentacles of the hut and draw out the Galeb Duhr. The battle ended with both Griznak and Nog clingling to life as a badly wounded Delgato finished off the last of them with force blasts. They had to go somewhere and heal up and rest. They decided to head back to "Dim's Camp" to sleep that night.
When they finally arrived, they saw a fire at the camp and sneaking up to investigate, Griznak saw that it was Dim. Delgato was elected to go forth and talk with Dim to see his disposition. Did he side with the Hags? Would he try and kill the PCs? Delgato approached and began to speak with him with trepidation. As it turned out, Dim was no fan of the Hags and went out of his way to try and not look at the PCs with his strange eye-patch. As it turned out, the eye-patch could be used by the Hag and her sisters to spy from. He wanted to bring the PCs to the black mound at the headwaters of the river once again, as there was a secret entrance that would lead to the Hags.
After sleeping they were once again off on the river, following behind Dim's boat with their crab boat. Along the way, they were attacked by 4 large black lizardmen (Whom they had seen back at the lizardfolk village). These mighty warriors almost proved to be the undoing of the group. They did such terrible damage with each blow, it was a very close call and used up most of the team's resources. They took a short rest to heal up and continued on their way.
Finally they reached the great black mound once again and as they crept into the hidden rear entrance they were attacked by 4 more of the black lizardmen which almost decimated them. Dim continued into the cave without looking back or helping. The PCs decided that they needed to find a place to hole-up and take another nights rest. They found a campsite they could use and got their rest, after dealing with a strange sickness brought upon by the spores of some fungus. They sent forth Delgato in gaseous form to scope out the area. He did so, finding Nog playing with a group of those strange canine creatures. Beyond that was a dark pool room and beyond that a room occupied by two black dragons, who sensed his presence and blasted his gaseous form with acid! He fled and reported to the others.
The next day they headed in again, past the remains of the black lizardmen and upwards into the mound. They encountered Dim and he took off his strange eye-patch and left it on the ground as if he were going to sleep. Dim was going to help them this time. They moved up and soon were entering the low ceilinged dark pool area and were soon battling a giant stone crocodile. The two small dragons swooped in during this battle to make things even harder. Dim was massively strong and spent most of the fight grappling the stone crocodile. The croc seemed immune to Nog's attacks and Nog had to try and help as well as he could. Delgato and Griznak shot their magical attacks in at the creatures. Dim has some powerful magical effect to his eye that he would blast off at the dragons to great affect.
Soon the stone crocodile and one of the black dragons were defeated. The remaining dragon had fled back the way it came. Dim said that next would be the hags to fight. Nog and Dim were wounded, Dim most severely. Now they must prepare for what is to come. Hopefully killing the hags will remove the curse.....
