The village of Krezk is a peaceful little wooded village on the western edge of the lands of Borovia. There is a stout and solid wall surrounding the community and a strong gatehouse guarding its only entrance.
The abbey on the cliffs above the village is the largest structure to be seen as all other buildings within are quaint cottages. Even the Burgomaster lives in a large cottage. Strange howling and screams can be heard coming from the shadowed abbey above.
Upon the PCs first arrival at Krezk, it seemed like deja vu, as they were refused entrance, not because of Uphir this time, but because they were strangers pure and simple. They negotiated with the Burgomaster of Krezk himself, Dmitry Krezkov, and came to an agreement that if they could make sure their late shipment of wine from the Wizard of Wines winery arrived, they would be allowed admittance. Well, since the winery was on their list anyway, they decided to perform the required task and left for the winery.
They were forced to return sooner than they wanted as they were forced to chase the possessed Tetsuo there. They were welcomed into Krezk by the burgomaster and his wife and even as they dropped off the wine were rushed forth so that their priest could aid in a birth.
Very quickly they were reunited with tetsuo, spent some time talking with Dmitry Krezkov, spent the night in an old spinster's cottage, drank from healing waters at a shrine to the Morning Lord (Which partially healed Janlynn's grievely wounded eye), but did not stay long and were soon on their way back to Vallaki to check out the festival.
After their trials in Berez, the decided their next course would be to go back to Krezk to seek audience with the Abbot. The Abbey was filled to the brim with half man - half animal creatures (The Belview family). They seemed harmless enough, even if very disturbing to interact with. They met the Abbot who seemed to be off his rocker. He has created a stitched together girl, who looks somewhat like Ireena, who he hopes to marry off to Strahd in a half-baked scheme to settle Strahd's heart. He feels this will bring peace to Barovia.
He wanted the heroes to get him a wedding dress for the girl in exchange for helping them. Deciding it was best to go along, they agreed and were soon returning with the wedding dress of the Baroness of Vallaki. They petitioned the Abbot to allow them to use the disc which was hung upon the wall above the fireplace in the north tower. Behind the disc holy symbol was a giant lens which the abbot brought forth down into the village and Janlynn set it in the outstretched arms of the statue there. When Dawn arrived the next morning the lens was activated and increased the power of the shrine. Bolts of energy shot down from the minaret's atop the Abbey and their power was used to charge up the lens and pool. All were healed of their Hag curses. Many of the villagers were present and were healed as well.
